Academic Programs
The Washington Baptist University offers following programs for the Distance Learning Program.
I. Diploma Program
This program is designed for the students who do not fully meet the requirements to be admitted to one of the Undergraduate programs. The level of academic achievements of each individual will determine how long one should work on this remedial track. Once the individual satisfies the requirements set by the school, he or she will be regarded as having an equivalency to High School diploma and be allowed to enter the College, if he or she desires. Further inquiries regarding the program may be made to the Department of Academic Affairs.
II. Undergraduate Degrees
Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (B.A.)
This program, designed under the general guidelines of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and according to the spiritual vision and purpose of the school, seeks to educate students to be faithful Christian witnesses in society and in the church.
Bachelor of Science in Family Ministry (B.S.)
This program, designed within the general framework of the SCHEV and according to the spiritual vision and purpose of the school, aims at nurturing students to be faithful Christian witnesses in society and in the church.
Criteria for Admission and Graduation
(1) The candidate for admission: the applicant with High School diploma, its equivalency or higher academic credentials
(2) The candidate for graduation: the applicant who has completed at least 120 credit hours and has maintained minimum GPA 2.0 (C in letter grade).
III. Graduate Degrees
Master of Arts in Religious Studies (M.A.)
This program, designed according to the general guidelines by the SCHEV and according to the spiritual vision and purpose of the school, is geared toward challenging students to higher and more rigorous academic achievements and competence.
Criteria for Admission and Graduation
(1) The candidate for admission: the applicant with B.A. or B.S. degree or its equivalency; and with GPA at least 3.0 (B in letter grade).
(2) The candidate for graduation: the applicant who has completed at least 64 credit hours and has maintained the minimum GPA 3.0 (B in letter grade).
Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.)
This program, designed according to the general guidelines set forth by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) and according to the spiritual vision and purpose of the school, seeks to cultivate and nurture students to be well-equipped Christian ministers.
Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
This program, designed within the general framework of the ATS and according to the spiritual vision and purpose of the school, seeks to cultivate and nurture students to be well-equipped Christian ministers.
Criteria for Admission and Graduation
(1) The M.R.E. or M.Div. candidate for admission: the applicant with B.A. or B.S. or its equivalency; and with GPA 3.0 (B in the letter grade)
(2) The M.R.E. candidate for graduation: the applicant with at least 64 credit hours and with the minimum GPA 3.0 (B in the letter grade)
(3) The M.Div. candidate for graduation: the applicant with at least 93 credit hours and with the minimum GPA 3.0 (B in the letter grade)
