ADMISSION AS AN ESL STUDENT (F-1 VISA FROM OUTSIDE OF THE US)


• VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

Student should work with a lawyer or an advisor, separate of the University, to prepare all necessary documents. **NOTE: The I-20 is NOT an F-1 Visa and can ONLY be issued to students who have been ACCEPTED into WBU. Please visit http://www.ice.gov for additional information on the I-20. ***

If and when the student’s F-1 Visa and I-20 are approved and issued, they are required to begin class on the date stated on the I-20. The program start date cannot be changed for any reason. If students begin class after the middle of semester they will only be charged half the tuition cost.

• GUIDELINES FOR THE 2012-2013 ESL PROGRAM

(1)WBU offers a 2-year ESL program for students interested in studying English

(2)WBU operates on a semester-based system

(3)WBU offers classes on 6 levels (beginner thru advanced)

(4)Admitted students will be issued a level evaluation

(5)Class Times are Monday-Thursday: 9am-1:30pm or 6pm-10:30pm (4 days a week)

(6)Attendance policy: Maximum 6 classes absences allowed per semester to maintain

the F-1 Visa

(1) Fall Semesters: Sep 4 - Dec 18

(2) Fall Flex: Oct 31 - Dec 18

• PRE-REQUISITES FOR UNDERGRADUATE

(1)Student must have obtained a High School degree or equivalent

(2)Student must have studied ESL for a minimum of 6 months or obtained a TOEFL score

     of 190(IBT) or higher.(www.ets.org/toefl/)


• GUIDELINES FOR THE 2012-2013 UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

(1)WBU operations on a semester-based system

(2)Students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours (4 classes) per semester

(3)Students must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or above

(4)Students must earn 120 credit hours w/in 5 years in order to complete graduation

(5)In order to maintain F-1 Visa status, students must meet the above requirements

(6)Class Times are Monday-Friday: 9:30am-2:45pm , 5:30pm-11pm , and 8pm-8:30pm

(Chapel/Mon,Tue,Thu)

(7)Each class is 150 minutes long

(8)All classes are taught in English or Korean

(9)Students can create their schedule from a variety of classes w/in their major and

     school policies

(10) Attendance policy: Maximum 3 absences allowed per semester to maintain

     the F-1 Visa

(2)Students must take a minimum of 9 credit hours (3 classes) per semester

(3)Students must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above

(4)Students must earn 60 or 64 credit hours w/in 3 years in order to complete graduation

(M.A.C.C., M.R.E., and M.B.A.)

(5)Students must earn 94 credit hours w/in 4 years in order to complete graduation(M.Div.)

(6)In order to maintain F-1 Visa status, students must meet the above requirements
